Artist's Comment - For this painting, I painstakingly reproduced the flags of the 2nd Wisconsin from close examination of the original flags. The saddle that Reynolds sits on was recreated from the original saddle that Reynolds used during the battle that now resided in the Civil War Museum in Philadelphia PA.The men of the 2nd Wisconsin are accurately depicted with their knapsacks and blanket rolls as well as their distinctive black Hardee hats with red disc badges denoting the Union Army 1st Corps. The soldiers are also shown carrying the Austrian Lorenz Rifled Musket.
