In September of 1862 an order was issued to replace the Zouave uniforms of the 10th New York Infantry that had been destroyed in a fire at White House landing, Virginia in the spring of that same year. The firm of Messer Wm. Seligman & Co., the same company that supplied the regiment’s previous uniform, was tasked with supplying the regiment with new Zouave uniforms consisting of a Dark Blue Jacket Trimmed in Red along with light blue trousers that were trimmed in a double stripe of red similar to that of the previous uniform. This final issue uniform would be worn by the regiment through the remainder of their term of service in the Civil War. A surviving example of this uniform now resides in the collection of the Gettysburg National Military Park, Pennsylvania.
