This painting was commissioned by the Monmouth battlefield Park in New Jersey for the 2013 relaunch of their newly remodeled visitors center as one of 7 Paintings done specifically for that project. This Painting depicts the Continental artillery atop Combs Hill with Chevalier Thomas-Antoine de Mauduit du Plessis, commanding a battery of 6-pound cannon as they fire in support of Continental troops holding a line along a hedgerow fence and orchard on the Parsonage Farm. The Continental Artillerists fired round shot that broke up the formations of British Grenadiers moving to assault the American Line. Today Comb's Hill is the sight of the Park's Visitor's center and is where battle reenactments are held.
